Ivanna Ortiz has pleaded not guilty to 14 counts in an upgraded indictment over a shooting at Rihanna’s Los Angeles home in March. The case matters because prosecutors allege Rihanna was the intended target while her family and others were at the property; they say everyone else was at risk.

The indictment keeps the attempted murder charge and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, while upgrading 10 assault charges to allege use of an assault weapon. Rihanna and her mother testified to the grand jury, according to the witness list. Police say shots struck the home’s nursery wall, gates, a fence and an Airstream trailer; Ortiz was arrested after a helicopter located a white Tesla seen leaving the area. She is due back in court on 29 October, is being held on $2.65 million bail and could face life in prison if convicted.
