Robert Pattinson's A24-produced film "Primetime" will open in theatres nationwide on 25 September, following the announcement that it has secured a slot at the Venice Film Festival. The film, directed by documentary filmmaker Lance Oppenheim, dramatises journalist Chris Hansen's 2006 efforts to create television history with "To Catch a Predator", the NBC Dateline series in which suspected child predators were exposed with the help of law enforcement and decoys posing as minors online.

Pattinson stars as Hansen and also produces the film through his company Icki Eneo Arlo alongside Brighton McCloskey, with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Lars Knudsen and Tyler Campellone also producing; the screenplay is by Ajon Singh. The cast includes Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo and Phoebe Bridgers. "Primetime" will share its 25 September release date with several other wide openings, including Paramount's Brad Pitt-starring "Heart of the Beast", Marvel Studios' "Avengers: Endgame Encore", DreamWorks Animation's "Forgotten Island", and horror titles "Victorian Psycho" and "Crawlers".
