## Key points

- Rockstar officially backs GTA 5 roleplay with new "nopixel V" launcher integration
- Fans see this as a sign GTA 6 Online is still far off
- Nopixel V launched 8 September with Twitch Drops through 30 September

## Summary

Rockstar Games has, for the first time, officially thrown its support behind the Grand Theft Auto 5 roleplay scene, partnering with the community-run "nopixel" server to launch "nopixel V" — a new version of the format built directly into Rockstar's own game launcher rather than run independently by modders. GTA roleplay has drawn huge Twitch audiences for years through streamer-led storylines, so this formal backing marks a significant legitimisation of the format, though it has also fuelled fan speculation that Rockstar's continued investment in GTA 5's ecosystem means a full online mode for the upcoming GTA 6 remains some way off, given the studio has yet to say anything about GTA 6's online component.

Nopixel V went live on 8 September, with Twitch Drops running until 30 September offering players up to $1.5 million in in-game GTA Online currency plus a Burger Shot tracksuit cosmetic item. Rockstar said "some familiar faces" would be reprising fan-favourite characters alongside new personalities starting fresh storylines, suggesting a strong line-up for the relaunch. By contrast, GTA Online for GTA 5 launched just two weeks after that game's release, and with no PC version of GTA 6 yet confirmed, commentators noted that a comparably swift GTA 6 Online launch looks unlikely.
