Rosario Dawson Says She’s “A Reject Of Spider-Man” After ‘Brand New Day’ Cut ‘Daredevil’s Claire Temple Cameo

Deadline · 4 hours ago

Actress Rosario Dawson has revealed that her cameo as Claire Temple, the Daredevil character, was cut from "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" despite having filmed a scene for the blockbuster. Speaking at GalaxyCon in Raleigh, North Carolina, last month, she said the news came via email after she had already prepared social media posts about the appearance, joking that she is now "a reject of Spider-Man". The disclosure highlights how even completed cameo footage can be dropped from major superhero releases during editing.

Dawson explained that a comic featuring a young Spider-Man visiting her own former elementary school, PS19 in Manhattan's Lower East Side, had deepened her personal connection to the project, making the cut especially disappointing. She noted her Daredevil character still exists within the same shared universe as Spider-Man and expressed hope she might reprise the role of Claire Temple again in future. Dawson has previously played Temple across several Marvel television series, including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.
