Rosie O'Donnell has returned to the United States after 18 months living in Ireland, bringing her one-woman show "Rosie O'Donnell: Common Knowledge" to New York's Daryl Roth Theatre for a run of 12 performances beginning 22 July. The 64-year-old comedian relocated to Ireland shortly before Donald Trump's second inauguration, saying she feared for her own wellbeing and that of her youngest child, who is nonbinary and autistic, after reading the Republican Party's Project 2025 transition plan. In a candid interview with Variety, she discussed the show, her long-running feud with Trump, and her efforts to support her "Harriet the Spy" co-star Michelle Trachtenberg before the actress's death.

Directed by Gabriel Barre, the show has previously toured Ireland, Scotland and Australia before its New York debut and covers O'Donnell's time abroad as well as raising her child. She noted that Trump, with whom she has clashed for around 20 years, recently posted an AI-generated video about her and has threatened to revoke her US citizenship. O'Donnell also touched on lighter subjects in the interview, including her support for the Philadelphia Eagles over the New York Jets and her openness about undergoing cosmetic surgery, which she said she chose to have out of a dislike of secrecy and false claims of "natural" results among celebrities.
