Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley across all eight Harry Potter films, will bring the character back to the stage in Broadway's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, joining the production this winter. He becomes the second Harry Potter film actor to sign on, following Tom Felton's turn as Draco Malfoy, which has driven a sharp rise in box office demand and is expected to have a similar effect on ticket sales for Grint's run.

Grint takes over the role on 2 February 2027 at the Lyric Theatre in New York, once Felton's engagement ends on 3 January 2027, and will perform for a 17-week run through to 30 May.
