## Key points

- Russo’s double earned Arsenal a 2-1 win at Anfield.
- The result gave coach Renée Slegers brief respite.
- Liverpool had a disputed goal ruled out and pressed late.

## Summary

Alessia Russo scored twice as Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, giving head coach Renée Slegers brief relief amid pressure. The much-needed win came despite another unconvincing performance, with Liverpool creating chances and disputing a disallowed goal.

Russo opened the scoring from Emily Fox’s cross, but Beata Olsson equalised six minutes later after a long pass exposed Arsenal’s defence. Liverpool thought Jenna Clark had put them ahead after a corner, but the goal was ruled out for offside against Vivien Endemann. Russo headed Arsenal’s winner just before half-time; Liverpool pressed late, with Cornelia Kapocs missing a clear chance in the 89th minute.
