Actor Ryan Gosling has been formally announced as the lead in Marvel's upcoming Ghost Rider film, scheduled for 2028 release. The revelation occurred during San Diego Comic-Con, with director Shawn Levy attached to the project. Gosling, known for roles in films including La La Land and Hail Mary, will portray the motorcycle-riding anti-hero Johnny Blaze, a stuntman bound to the supernatural Spirit of Vengeance through a dark pact with the villain Mephisto.

The casting marks the completion of extended negotiations between Gosling and Marvel Studios, with the actor having publicly discussed his interest in the character during a podcast appearance earlier this year. Levy, who recently worked with Gosling on an upcoming Star Wars film, expressed that the two developed the Ghost Rider concept through creative conversations on set. This new adaptation will follow two earlier Ghost Rider films—Nicolas Cage's 2007 original and its 2011 sequel—and joins other 2028 Marvel releases including Black Panther 3.
