On the occasion of Priyanka Chopra Jonas' birthday, director S.S. Rajamouli unveiled new images from his forthcoming film 'Varanasi.' The production is conceived as an expansive narrative unfolding across millennia and multiple geographical settings, ranging from Antarctica to Africa to India. The cast includes Mahesh Babu performing in a dual role as the protagonist Rudhra and the Hindu deity Rama, alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran as the main antagonist Kumbha.

For Chopra Jonas, the project represents a landmark return to Indian cinema following her recent engagement with Hollywood films. Rajamouli selected her specifically for the role of Mandakini, noting that the character demanded an actor capable of simultaneously embodying toughness and emotional fragility. The film follows Rajamouli's internationally acclaimed 'RRR,' with composer MM Keeravani—who won the Academy Award for the previous film's score—again providing the music. The production is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on 7 April 2027.
