SABATON’s JOAKIM BRODÉN: ‘We’ve Never Had A Huge Dip Or A Huge Rise’ In Our Popularity
Swedish metal band Sabaton's vocalist Joakim Brodén has described the band's growth as steady and organic, never experiencing the dramatic spikes or collapses that characterise many musical careers. In a recent interview, Brodén expressed gratitude for this gradual trajectory, noting that whilst their song "40:1" achieved particular prominence in Poland, their overall popularity has risen consistently across markets. The band is currently undertaking a headlining North American tour and continues to release new material through strategic collaborations.
The band's measured approach has involved growing their supporting team alongside their audience; Brodén highlighted that the touring operation now includes more non-band members—such as production managers and sound designers—than band members themselves. Recent releases include a new version of "Templars" featuring POP EVIL's Leigh Kakaty, and the video game partnership single "Yamato", which has accumulated 7.5 million Spotify streams and 4.6 million video views since March. Their previous game collaboration, "Bismarck" from 2019, proved significantly more successful, with over 124 million Spotify streams and 111 million video views, whilst their 2025 album "Legends" has garnered nearly 200 million total streams.
