## Summary

Sacha Baron Cohen’s new Ali G comedy, *Ali G: Who Iz I?*, is due to arrive on Prime Video on Wednesday, shortly after a two-day cinema run that began on Friday. The brief theatrical release was intended to offer a special big-screen event and create urgency before streaming; Amazon MGM Studios has not reported its box-office takings.

Baron Cohen makes his feature directorial debut with the film, in which Ali G travels to America after learning his girlfriend is eight months pregnant. The character first appeared in the UK series *Da Ali G Show* in 2000, and the film uses the prank-based approach of *Borat* and *Brüno*, putting unsuspecting people at the centre of social commentary. An AI-generated email campaign urged cinema chains to boycott the film, but none supported the call.
