Sacred Reich bassist and vocalist Phil Rind has revealed that guitarist Joey Radziwill wrote 10 of the 11 songs on the Arizona thrash veterans' upcoming album, "Into the Abyss", the follow-up to 2019's "Awakening". Speaking to Metal & Rock Zone, Rind praised the younger guitarist for capturing the energy of the band's early material in a way longtime members felt they no longer could, calling the new songs "fast, heavy" and "impressive". The album, set for release via Metal Blade Records, also marks the band's first LP since drummer Eduardo Baldo replaced longtime sticksman Dave McClain.

The record was recorded at The Focusrite Room in Mesa, Arizona, with John Aquilino and the band producing, and mixed by Bill Metoyer. Rind said a release date has not been finalised but is now expected sometime next year after hopes for an August or September release fell through. He also described the album's themes as darker than before, reflecting personal struggles since 2019, though with a few more optimistic songs included, and confirmed McClain's October 2025 departure was simply because "it was time for a change", with Baldo, formerly of Red Devil Vortex, having already impressed during European shows with Hatebreed.
