Sadie Sink’s previously undisclosed role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been revealed as Jean Grey, confirming fan speculation prompted by trailer footage and her resemblance to the character’s classic comic-book appearance. The secrecy was intended to preserve a major surprise for cinema audiences, according to director Destin Daniel Cretton.

The film, released on 31 July, is Tom Holland’s fourth outing as Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon returning as MJ and Ned. It follows Peter Parker living alone after the world forgets him, while a new villain emerges; the film follows the major box-office success of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
