Fred Tsui, a Hong Kong film sales executive and founder of Moebius Entertainment, has been appointed executive director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society. Taking office on 23 September, he will succeed Albert Lee and lead an organisation central to Hong Kong’s film culture and the international promotion of Asian cinema.

Tsui will oversee the Hong Kong International Film Festival, its financing forum and film lab, the Summer International Film Festival and Cine Fan programme. He brings more than two decades’ experience at Media Asia Film, alongside industry and festival-jury roles; the festival, founded in 1977, held its 50th edition this year and Tsui’s first, the 51st, is due next March.
