Sammy Hagar has offered public support to fellow former Van Halen singer David Lee Roth after Roth cancelled most of his remaining 2026 tour dates. Hagar said he hoped the cancellations were not caused by a health issue and praised Roth for continuing to perform Van Halen material, marking an unusually warm gesture between two musicians with a long history of rivalry.

Roth cancelled shows in Colorado, Iowa, Kentucky and Illinois without announcing a reason; an 7 August appearance in Sturgis, South Dakota, remains listed. After hearing the news from former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, Hagar invited Roth to join him and Anthony at Hagar’s Las Vegas residency in September, suggesting he could sing or host part of a show.
