Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is presented as a refined rather than revolutionary foldable, with most of the traditional compromises of the form factor now largely removed. It is thinner, flatter and more practical when folded than earlier models, while retaining a tablet-sized internal display; however, its £2,100-equivalent starting price remains its biggest drawback and limits its appeal.

The 215g handset measures 8.9mm thick when folded and 4.1mm unfolded, using a gapless hinge that opens smoothly to a flatter 180-degree position than its predecessor. It has a 6.5-inch cover OLED and an 8-inch, 120Hz internal AMOLED display with increased resolution, 3,000-nit peak brightness and a new anti-reflective layer to improve outdoor visibility. Other headline specifications include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, up to 16GB of memory, up to 1TB of storage, a 5,000mAh battery and a 200MP main camera.
