Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 8 at its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra. The new foldable keeps much the same design as its predecessor but is slightly slimmer, lighter and smaller, while shifting most of its new functionality onto the cover display, which now supports apps, AI-driven insights and Gemini-powered automation.

The handset weighs 180 grams, measures 85.7 x 75.4 x 13.1 mm folded and 166.9 x 75.4 x 6.1 mm unfolded, with a 6.9-inch main AMOLED display and a 4.1-inch cover screen, both unchanged in size from the Z Flip 7. New cover-screen features include "Now Brief" for glanceable updates and easier access to Gemini Intelligence via the side key or voice commands. The cameras remain dated at 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide and 10MP selfie, though video recording gains a horizon-stabilising lock. It runs Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip but keeps the same 4,300 mAh battery and charging speeds as before. Pricing has risen by $100 to a $1,200 starting price, with preorders open now and shipping from 7 August.
