Say Goodbye to Gerard Butler’s $80 Million Action Hit Before It Officially Leaves Netflix
Netflix is removing the original heist thriller Den of Thieves, starring Gerard Butler, from its library at the end of August, giving subscribers only a few more days to watch it. The film's departure comes as Butler has had a mixed run more recently, following the poor box office performance of Greenland 2: Migration earlier in 2026, even as its sequel and other Butler titles remain available to stream elsewhere.
Den of Thieves will leave Netflix on 31 August, with no confirmation yet of where it might stream afterwards. Its sequel, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, which took $58 million (£45.8 million) at the box office, is unaffected and remains on the platform, alongside Butler's crime thriller In the Hand of Dante, added to Netflix in June. By contrast, Greenland 2: Migration, made on a $90 million (£71 million) budget, took only around $45 million (£35.5 million) worldwide and is now streaming on HBO Max, while 2025 proved stronger for Butler thanks to his role in the live-action How to Train Your Dragon, his highest-grossing film to date.
