## Key points

- Scotland aim to challenge New Zealand at Murrayfield.
- The All Blacks have won 31 of 33 meetings.
- Townsend says physicality and quick ball are key.

## Summary

Scotland coach Gregor Townsend says his team can trouble New Zealand in Saturday’s Nations Championship match at Murrayfield, although he recognises the All Blacks remain favourites. He hopes Scotland can build on last year’s competitive defeat and turn their belief into a first win over New Zealand.

The teams have met 33 times since 1905: New Zealand have won 31 and drawn twice, and are on a run of 21 consecutive victories. Scotland lost 25-17 at Murrayfield last year, but Townsend says New Zealand have since become a more ambitious and cohesive side under coach Dave Rennie. He says Scotland will need physical effort and quick ball, with Finn Russell stressing that belief must be matched by results.
