Scott Eastwood’s WWII Thriller Is Officially Taking Over the World
Scott Eastwood's World War II thriller has become the latest in a run of successful WWII titles this year, quickly climbing the digital sales charts after its release on video-on-demand platforms. The film, which had a modest theatrical run in June, struggled to recoup its budget at the box office but is now finding a wider audience through rental and purchase, continuing a pattern seen with several other recent WWII releases that have performed better on home entertainment than in cinemas.
The film earned $1.5 million at the box office against a reported $10 million budget when it opened in June. Since becoming available to rent and buy this week, it has entered the domestic iTunes and Amazon charts, according to tracking site FlixPatrol, outperforming other current home-video releases including In the Grey, The Death of Robin Hood and Passenger. It follows a string of WWII hits in 2026, including Prime Video's The Tank, the Russell Crowe and Rami Malek film Nuremberg, and the Brendan Fraser and Andrew Scott drama Pressure, which holds a 95% Rotten Tomatoes audience score.
