- Scream 7 set a box-office record but received poor reviews.

## Summary

Neve Campbell has confirmed she will return as Sidney Prescott in Scream 8, bringing the series’ best-known character back after her absence from Scream 6. The announcement follows the commercial success of Scream 7, though that film drew poor reviews and controversy over Melissa Barrera’s dismissal.

Paramount and Spyglass announced development of an eighth film in March 2026, with television writers Lilla and Nora Zuckerman writing the script. Scream 7 earned $214 million against a $45 million budget, a franchise record, but holds a 29% Rotten Tomatoes score. The series began in 1996, and Campbell appeared in every instalment before Scream 6.
