A seagull survived after becoming wedged in a car’s grille during a high-speed journey on the A1(M) towards Darlington, County Durham. The driver did not realise the bird was trapped until a friend alerted him after he had parked, prompting him to contact a local bird rescue service.

Darlington Bird Rescue found the seagull protruding from beneath the vehicle’s number plate and attended to it. Despite travelling several miles on the front of the car, it reportedly suffered only minor injuries and will receive rest and pain relief while recovering.
