Sebastian Stan appears to have confirmed he is playing Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face, in Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman: Part 2, ending months of speculation about who will take on the iconic villain. Speaking to French outlet Le Journal du Dimanche, Stan let the role slip while discussing the secrecy surrounding his superhero commitments, including Avengers: Doomsday, saying he "can't say anything" about the Batman sequel before adding "where I play Harvey Dent." Neither Stan's casting nor his specific role had previously been confirmed by director Matt Reeves, despite Stan's involvement in the project being announced in May.

Dent, Gotham's district attorney who becomes the disfigured villain Two-Face, has previously been played by Billy Dee Williams, Tommy Lee Jones, Aaron Eckhart and Harry Lawtey. Stan's Marvel co-star Scarlett Johansson is also joining the film, reportedly as Dent's wife Gilda, with Charles Dance rumoured to play his father. The sequel, also starring Robert Pattinson, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis, has been delayed from its original October 2025 slot and is now scheduled for release on 18 February 2028.

Sebastian Stan is the American actor known for playing Bucky Barnes in Marvel's Avengers films, and more recently for roles in I, Tonya and A Different Man. He has been cast in Matt Reeves' The Batman: Part 2, the sequel to 2022's The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader, though for months the studio and cast kept his specific character under wraps.

The role in question is Harvey Dent, Gotham City's district attorney who, in Batman lore, is disfigured and turns into the villain Two-Face. It is one of the best-known characters in Batman stories, having previously been played by Tommy Lee Jones and, more memorably, by Aaron Eckhart in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. Casting news for major superhero films is often deliberately withheld or teased for months to build anticipation.

The film is part of a run of high-profile releases keeping Stan busy, alongside Avengers: Doomsday, and is being shot on location in the UK, including Glasgow, which is used as a stand-in for Gotham City. The Batman: Part 2 has faced release delays and is now scheduled for February 2028.
