## Summary

US officials say the Secret Service arrested a Venezuelan man near the White House after finding firearms in a stolen car, preventing a potential threat to President Donald Trump. The case matters amid previous attempts on Trump’s life, including a 2024 shooting at a Pennsylvania rally.

The suspect, Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos, reportedly said voices in his head had told him to travel to Washington to kill Trump. Authorities found an AR-15-style rifle, two handguns and dozens of rounds of ammunition; a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said he had been released after an encounter at the Texas border in 2024.
