## Summary

The US State Department will issue visas to Flávio Bolsonaro and his family and allow them to enter the United States, a senior department official said. The reported move comes after the Brazilian senator left the country following his election loss, as a deadline to surrender his passports expired.

An ally confirmed Bolsonaro’s departure to Reuters, and Brazilian outlet Metropoles reported his flight was headed to Florida. It remains unclear whether he complied with the passport order; he was reportedly under investigation for alleged money laundering and other crimes. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won 51.8% of the vote, defeating Bolsonaro by nearly 4.4 million votes, while Bolsonaro has refused to concede and called for the result to be annulled, alleging fraud.
