## Key points

- A Republican senator urged Trump not to delay Blanche’s confirmation.
- Senate politics could make the nomination harder later.
- Blanche needs Senate approval for the role.

## Summary

A Republican senator warned President Trump that delaying Todd Blanche’s Senate confirmation could jeopardise the nomination, arguing that the chamber’s political balance may soon change. The warning highlights the dependence of Trump’s appointments on continued Republican support and on acting before any shifts in Senate membership or priorities.

Blanche, a former Trump defence lawyer serving in a senior Justice Department role, requires Senate approval for the post. The senator’s remark that “this place could be very different” referred to the risk that future vacancies, elections or changing alliances could make confirmation harder; the article did not provide further accessible detail beyond the warning.
