Sennheiser has released the Momentum True Wireless 5, a substantial redesign of its flagship earbuds that keeps the price at $300 despite a smaller, more ergonomic shape and a compact new charging case. The update matters because it addresses long-standing gaps in the range beyond audio quality, Sennheiser's traditional strength, by improving comfort, battery life and repairability while retaining the balanced sound signature reviewers have consistently praised.

Battery life rises by five hours to up to 12 hours with active noise cancellation on, or 40 hours with the case, and for the first time the batteries in both the earbuds and case are user-replaceable, with replacements expected to cost around $30-$40. Sound upgrades include an expanded 8-band equaliser, refined Sound Personalisation, and native Dolby Atmos support with optional head tracking, while call quality has been boosted with two extra microphones, a bone conduction sensor and AI-based noise reduction; ANC has also reportedly been "enhanced", though Sennheiser has not detailed how.
