SEPULTURA’s DERRICK GREEN Says Original Idea For Farewell Tour Came From ANDREAS KISSER: ‘It Just Seemed To Really Make Sense’

Sepultura frontman Derrick Green has revealed that the idea for the Brazilian metal band's farewell tour originated with guitarist Andreas Kisser, saying the timing simply "seemed to really make sense" after decades of repeated album-tour cycles. Speaking to TotalRock's Neil Jones at the Bloodstock Open Air festival in the UK, Green stressed that the split is genuine and amicable, unlike some bands' "farewell" tours that later reverse course, with the group choosing to end things on a high note while relationships within the band remain strong.

Green explained that Sepultura, formed in Belo Horizonte in 1984, has spent two to three years preparing for a world tour spanning as many of the 80-plus countries they have played as possible, ensuring a proper send-off. The tour is set to conclude with a final show on 7 November in São Paulo, Brazil, with the band's remaining UK date also marking an emotional but celebratory milestone. Green noted that no member is stepping away for health reasons, and that having the fans' continued support has made leaving harder, though the band feels they are making the right choice while still on good terms.
