A Georgian bride, Jesni Sam, has filed a lawsuit following a devastating helicopter crash on her wedding night that killed her husband and the pilot. After marrying Dave Fiji on 29 May at The Revere wedding venue near Atlanta, the couple boarded a Robinson R-66 helicopter for a promotional "helicopter send-off" provided by the venue through Prestige Helicopters. The aircraft crashed into trees within minutes of takeoff, and whilst Jesni survived, she remained trapped in the wreckage beside her deceased husband's body for nearly six hours before rescue.

The lawsuit alleges that The Revere and Prestige Helicopters negligently failed to assess adverse weather conditions and proceeded with the flight despite clear dangers. National Transportation Safety Board weather data indicated the area was affected by rain, fog, low clouds, thunderstorms and poor visibility at the time. Dave Fiji, a 25-year-old Delta Airlines pilot, had expressed concerns about the weather and visibility before boarding, and his mother confirmed the flight was initially set to be cancelled due to weather concerns. Jesni sustained serious injuries including damage to her hip, leg, neck and arm, along with ongoing psychological trauma including post-traumatic stress disorder and a fear of flying. The lawsuit seeks compensation for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, pain and suffering, as well as damages related to her husband's death including lost income and funeral expenses.
