Serrano draws 3.4m views on TikTok for 50th win

BBC Sport · 2 hours ago

Amanda Serrano retained her unified WBA and WBO featherweight titles with a majority decision win over Argentina's Lucrecia Manzur, in what was the first world title boxing match to be streamed live on TikTok. The bout, which drew 3.4 million total views on the platform, marks Serrano's 50th career win and underlines her status as one of the most-watched female boxers, though she narrowly missed the knockout needed to break the women's record for stoppages.

The fight, held over 12 two-minute rounds in Temecula, California, was scored 114-114, 116-112 and 116-112 in Serrano's favour after Manzur, 27, troubled her early on before fading from round nine. The win keeps the 37-year-old Puerto Rican tied with Christy Martin on 32 knockouts, a record she hopes to break with a 33rd stoppage in a planned farewell fight in Puerto Rico later this year or in early 2027, with her opponent yet to be confirmed. Serrano acknowledged afterwards that age may have affected her performance, while on the undercard Denmark's Melissa Mortensen won her first world title, the vacant WBA super-bantamweight belt, on points against Mexico's Mayelli Flores.
