Instrumental trio Setting have released a new single, “Your Destiny Distresses Me”, recorded during the sessions for their self-titled second album, which arrived in April. Although it was left off the album, the nearly eight-minute track is presented as a strong standalone piece, moving from darker, heavier passages towards a more comforting and expansive atmosphere.

The band consists of Nathan Bowles, Jaime Fennelly and Joe Westerlund. Setting say the track combines acoustic elements, including piano-harp sounds and orchestral bass drum, with binaural synthesiser textures; they felt its distinct, space-like character worked best outside the album sequence. The group are also touring the US from 4 September to 8 November, with dates including Chicago, Minneapolis, Raleigh, Brooklyn and Philadelphia.
