Colombian superstar Shakira has described the upcoming FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show as "pretty historic" in an interview on The Capital Evening Show With Jimmy Hill, aired on Wednesday 8 July. She will perform alongside Justin Bieber, Madonna, BTS and Coldplay in the first-ever halftime show staged at a World Cup final, marking a notable moment for the tournament's blending of sport and major music acts.

The show is set for MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on 19 July, with Coldplay's Chris Martin curating the 11-minute event. Shakira, who also performed at the tournament's opening ceremony, said she was still working out how to make the final set distinct, and named Madonna, BTS and Bieber among the expected talent while hoping Martin would sing too. Bieber was confirmed as a co-headliner by FIFA and Global Citizen the day before. Separately, Shakira's Burna Boy collaboration "Dai Dai" recently spent a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, the first official World Cup anthem to top that ranking.
