Shang-Chi Star Simu Liu Says He Would ‘Crawl Through a Mile of Broken Glass’ for a Sequel

IGN · 4 hours ago

Shang-Chi star Simu Liu has said he would "crawl through a mile of broken glass" to make a sequel to the 2021 Marvel film happen, underscoring how much the project means to him and to fans who have waited years for a follow-up. His comments, made in an interview with Variety, came after Marvel's Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con passed without any announcement on Shang-Chi 2, prompting Liu to thank supporters who have been requesting the film for roughly five years.

Liu first played Shaun/Shang-Chi in the 2021 film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but has since appeared only in animated Marvel projects such as What If…? and Marvel Zombies. His character is set to return in Avengers: Doomsday this December, though the extent of his role is unclear. Original director Destin Daniel Cretton has said a sequel is something Marvel is "working on," while Liu previously indicated in 2023 that plans had been delayed by other upcoming Avengers releases.
