## Key points

- Sheffield Wednesday have appointed Dave Challinor as manager.
- He has won seven promotions in his managerial career.
- Interim boss Matt Hamshaw will lead Sunday’s match against Blackpool.

## Summary

Sheffield Wednesday have appointed Dave Challinor as manager after sacking Henrik Pedersen, who managed one win in six League One games. Wednesday are ninth and winless in three matches, so Challinor is being tasked with turning recent draws and defeats into wins and bringing the squad together.

Challinor, 51, has earned seven promotions across spells with AFC Fylde, Hartlepool and Stockport County. At Stockport, he won promotion from the National League and the League Two title within three seasons, then reached the League One play-offs twice. He will watch Sunday’s match against Blackpool from the stands while interim manager Matt Hamshaw takes charge; sporting director Simon Wilson, who worked with Challinor at Stockport, is expected to be central to the transition.
