Sheffield man, 30, pleads not guilty to attempted murder, robbery and coercive control of boyfriend
A 30-year-old Sheffield resident has entered not-guilty pleas to attempted murder and robbery charges related to an alleged assault on his boyfriend. The incident occurred on May 29 on Dykes Hall Place in Wisewood, with the victim sustaining injuries that did not require hospital care. Police became aware of the assault on June 1, four days after it allegedly took place, and arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.
The defendant also faces additional charges of coercive control spanning an alleged year-long period, encompassing violence, homophobic abuse, emotional manipulation, and financial restriction of the alleged victim. A separate count of mobile phone theft has been added to the charges. At his July 3 court appearance, the defendant was remanded into custody pending trial after maintaining his not-guilty pleas across all counts.
