A Sheffield mother is renewing her search for her son, who was taken to Iran by his father during a contact visit in March 2018 when the boy was just two years old. The child's father, Farokh Mahmodpour, was arrested and held at HMP Wormwood Scrubs awaiting sentencing for child abduction, but died of leukaemia in December 2023 before his case could be resolved. The mother received occasional photos via messaging until around her son's seventh birthday in mid-2023, since which time all contact has ceased.

The mother describes feeling abandoned by the justice system and international authorities, stating she has heard nothing from solicitors or the Foreign Office in years. With her son now living in Iran under uncertain circumstances following his father's death, she is attempting to raise public awareness in hopes of locating him. She expressed concerns about the passage of time and its effect on their relationship, whilst also questioning the circumstances surrounding her ex-partner's death and its potential connection to her son's current whereabouts.
