## Key points

- Seamus Coleman is considering retirement after leaving Everton.
- Sheffield United showed interest, but he did not join.
- Family time and punditry are shaping his next steps.

## Summary

Former Everton defender Seamus Coleman says he is increasingly content with life away from football and is edging towards retirement. Sheffield United had considered signing him after his departure from Everton, but no move came about, leaving the 38-year-old without a club.

Coleman said he had hoped to continue playing, but time with his family and new punditry work have made him comfortable with his current situation. He has not ruled out a return, saying he is keeping fit, though he has made 435 appearances for Everton over 17 years and earned 81 caps for the Republic of Ireland.
