## Summary

A clip from Russell Brand’s 1994 appearance in *The Bill* has resurfaced, showing him playing a young thief who is arrested in the episode. The fictional scene has drawn attention because Brand, now 51, was recently convicted of serious sexual offences and is awaiting sentencing.

Brand was found guilty of one rape and three sexual assaults after a trial involving allegations from six women dating from 1999 to 2009; jurors deliberated for eight and a half hours. He was acquitted of two other rape counts and one count of attempted indecent assault, refused bail and remanded in custody until his sentencing hearing. Police say their investigation into further rape allegations from two women remains ongoing, and Brand has been questioned about the complaints.
