The heated exchange, in which the man struck the rear window of her SUV and the pair traded insults, went viral online and drew a wave of racially charged comments directed at the woman, prompting both parties to speak publicly about what happened.

The homeowner, who asked to remain anonymous, told Fox 2 he has Parkinson's disease, which made him agitated during the confrontation, and said his main concern was damage to his sprinkler system rather than the grass; he did not file a police report and said he holds no ill will towards the driver. The woman, named Lacie, later came forward to say she had been rushing to collect her son after his football practice was cancelled due to a tornado, and claimed the Ring footage omitted further profanities and racial slurs the man had directed at her. Both said they had received abusive messages since the video spread, and Lacie said she regretted driving on his lawn but had not intended any malice.
