A 12-year-old girl was killed and three adults wounded when two men opened fire near a youth football event at Leon Day Park in Baltimore during a dispute over a parking space. The preteen was caught in the crossfire between the two gunmen, who engaged in a gunfight. Police Commissioner Richard Worley described the two men as "cowards" and said the girl, who was watching the football game, was caught in the middle of their altercation. Officers responded at approximately 6:15 p.m. on North Franklintown Road after receiving multiple reports of gunfire. A 25-year-old woman was treated for gunshot wounds, whilst a 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old man separately sought hospital treatment; all three were listed in stable condition. As of Saturday evening, police were searching for two adult male suspects with no arrests announced. Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott described the incident as "one of the most disgusting things" he had witnessed, expressing concern for the lasting impact on the girl's family, classmates and community.
