Shotzi Blackheart fires back at WWE star Matt Cardona’s comment about who the ‘Indy God’ is in pro wrestling
Major League Wrestling star Shotzi Blackheart has publicly staked her claim to the "Indy God" title in professional wrestling, directly challenging WWE star Matt Cardona over the informal accolade. The dispute matters within wrestling's independent circuit, where the label carries prestige as recognition of the most dominant performer competing outside the sport's major companies. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Shotzi argued that with Cardona having returned to WWE, the mantle should now pass to her.
Cardona had originally embraced the "Indy God" nickname after his release from WWE in 2020, rebuilding his career by winning multiple championships across smaller promotions including Game Changer Wrestling, House of Glory, Juggalo Championship Wrestling and World Series Wrestling. However, his re-signing with WWE in 2025 reopened the question of who holds the title on the independent scene, since it is traditionally reserved for those wrestling away from the biggest organisations. Shotzi, now competing and holding a championship in MLW, positions herself as the rightful successor, though Cardona has previously suggested he did not believe anyone had earned the right to inherit it.
