## Key points

- Best suited to PC gaming from the sofa.
- Trackpads and Steam Input help with mouse-led games.
- Buyers seeking discounts or specialised features may prefer alternatives.

## Summary

The Steam Controller is a strong choice for people who play PC games from the sofa, but it may be a poor fit for shoppers focused on Black Friday bargains. The article’s reviewer expects Valve’s controller to remain at full price, while other gamepads are more likely to be discounted.

Its trackpads let players move a cursor and navigate a PC without reaching for a mouse or keyboard, and Steam Input can adapt controls for games designed for those devices. The controller also has TMR thumbsticks, four rear buttons and haptic feedback. The article recommends it for couch gaming and unsupported PC titles, but suggests genre specialists and competitive players consider other controllers.
