British singer-songwriter Sienna Spiro received a standing ovation after performing “Great Expectation” at her VMAs debut in Los Angeles. She also won best new artist, making the evening a major milestone as her single continues to top the UK chart.

Spiro performed in a silver dress on a giant record and turntable, accompanied by a live band and singers. She beat six other nominees and thanked fans, her team, Capitol Records and members of her family in her acceptance speech. “Great Expectation” had spent three consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart, while “Die on This Hill” and “Pure” were at No. 11 and No. 28 respectively.
