Apple TV's sci-fi drama Silo is set to reinvent one of its central figures, with actor Tim Robbins revealing that Bernard will undergo a dramatic transformation in Season 3. Bernard's fate at the end of Season 2 left his future uncertain, and his return in Episode 5, airing 31 July, will show a version of the character markedly different from the authoritarian figure fans have known so far.

Speaking to Collider at San Diego Comic-Con, Robbins described receiving Graham Yost's Season 3 scripts as "one of the greatest opportunities" of his career, saying a revelation at the close of Season 2 propels Bernard into an entirely new way of thinking that changes him "physically, morally, mentally, spiritually". While Robbins avoided spoiling specifics, he confirmed the shift marks a significant departure from the ruthless, quasi-dictatorial version of Bernard seen in the show's first two seasons.
