Simon Pegg has joined the cast of Amazon’s The Rings of Power for its third season, reportedly playing the wizard Radagast the Brown. The casting would bring another well-known character from J.R.R. Tolkien’s wider legendarium into the series as it continues to move towards the events of The Lord of the Rings.

Radagast is one of the Istari, a group of wizards that includes Gandalf and Saruman, although he has had a smaller on-screen role than those characters. Pegg is best known for films including Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and the Mission: Impossible series; Amazon has not announced a release date for season three.
