Six crew members working on Ed Sheeran's tour were taken to hospital after being struck by a piece of stage equipment while dismantling the set following his concert at Detroit's Ford Field. The incident, described in fire department dispatch audio as a "forklift injury accident", occurred late on Saturday 29 August as workers were reportedly walking away near a vehicle tunnel ramp to take a break when the equipment lost control.

None of the six injuries were life-threatening, with two workers described as being in a serious condition and four stable; one person was kept in hospital overnight. Ford Field said it had launched a full review and was cooperating with authorities and the tour's production team, declining to speculate on the cause, while it remains unclear exactly what equipment was involved. Sheeran has not commented publicly on the accident, though he went on to make a surprise appearance at the Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco the following night, and is due to continue his US tour at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on 4 September.
