Blabbermouth · 4 hours ago

Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has praised the speed at which young musicians are developing, saying online tutorials and social media have made guitar learning far more accessible than when he started more than 40 years ago. He said this matters because aspiring players can now learn techniques directly and quickly, rather than relying mainly on books, records and watching concerts from afar.

In a radio interview, Slash said mastering a few musical phrases and applying them in different contexts could open up many possibilities, highlighting David Gilmour’s work on “Comfortably Numb”. He also reiterated his admiration for Jimi Hendrix and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, while Guns N’ Roses are currently undertaking an 18-date North American tour following two new singles and a deluxe reissue of “Live Era ’87–’93”.

  • Slash says online learning is accelerating young guitarists’ development.
  • He highlights adaptable guitar techniques over copying individual songs.
  • Guns N’ Roses are touring North America after recent releases.
