Actor Gary Oldman has claimed that Amazon has already decided who will play the next James Bond, backing his "Slow Horses" co-star Jack Lowden for the role. The comments add to months of intense speculation over who will succeed Daniel Craig, who left the role after 2021's "No Time to Die", with Denis Villeneuve set to direct the franchise's next instalment.

Speaking to Canada's Global, Oldman said it had been "rumoured" that Lowden was on the shortlist, adding "they have picked him… but they have not announced it yet." Reports emerged in August 2026 that Amazon was in the final stages of casting, with a shortlist of six names including Jack Barton, Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Paul Mescal and Harris Dickinson, after Theo James reportedly withdrew from contention. Casting director Nina Gold has said whoever is chosen will need to carry the role across "three, four, or more" films.
