## Key points

- SNL mocked Musk’s midterm spending and Texas politics.
- He spent nearly $500 million backing Republicans.
- The sketch also targeted Tesla and Grok AI.

## Summary

Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update used a comic Elon Musk character to mock his political spending after Democrats won most statewide races in Texas. The sketch also poked fun at Musk’s efforts to change the subject, Tesla’s Cybertruck production halt and his Grok AI.

Played by Jeremy Culhane, Musk repeatedly brought up a car flipping instead of addressing Colin Jost’s questions. Jost noted Musk had spent nearly $500 million on Republican candidates, and joked that his move to Texas to avoid taxes had become awkward as the state’s statewide races turned Democratic. The sketch ended with Grok delivering self-directed insults, including one about Musk’s children.
