Snoop Dogg Biopic Finds Its Suge Knight in Tre Hale (Exclusive)
Tre Hale has been cast as former Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight in Universal’s forthcoming Snoop Dogg biopic, Snoop. The film is preparing to begin production around Los Angeles in mid-September and will depict figures central to Snoop Dogg’s rise in 1990s rap, a period closely linked to Death Row’s influence on mainstream hip-hop.
Jonathan Daviss will play Snoop Dogg, alongside Myles Bullock as Dr Dre, Camron Jones as Tupac Shakur, Algee Smith as Warren G and Lauren London as Snoop’s mother. Craig Brewer is directing, with Snoop Dogg among the producers; Universal plans to release the film on 6 August 2027. Knight’s Death Row Records later declined after the departures of Snoop and Dr Dre, and Knight received a 28-year prison sentence for manslaughter following a fatal 2015 hit-and-run.
